For the 2019/20 season, the French manufacturer Dynastar is once again offering its warhorse from the Slalom category: the Speed Master SL R22. It has a structure derived from the World Cup but that doesn't have the obligatory FIS geometry and has a lighter plate aimed at promoting sliding to those who have less physique. The Speed Master was rewarded by our reviewers who especially appreciated its ease and ability to cope in large turns too. In general, this ski – at the limits of Class 4, where it is offered – is convincing in all points of view and earned the Gold Medal among the "Reviewers' Choice" 2019/20 skis in the Slalom category. This ski is characterised by good stability combined with its ease of management (Stefano Belingheri), its progression in turns and its stability at high speed. For Elena Re, it is a ski that's "magnificent, rigid, with excellent stability and a soft response; the ideal ski for taking angles in any situation". Indeed, it is "light underfoot, easy and versatile in all curve radii" (Giovanni Manfrini). You notice its structure, because right from the first turns, you feel the responsiveness and "density" of the ski but, nevertheless, you can use it in free sliding thanks to the ability of its structure to flex and to follow the terrain. It is recommended to those who are looking for a ski for short curves but don't want to feel compelled to take all slalom turns, and who prefer compact and unworked terrain. The ideal user is a Class-4, dynamic and athletic skier.
